Music & Drama Outreach Programme
For most young Nigerians the formal study of music is an after-school activity that is restricted to those from the wealthiest sections of society. Through the Abuja for Children project the Strauss School makes music and dance available to the young from less privileged backgrounds, working in local communities to provide instruments and free tuition. Each season of the Abuja for Children project culminates in the performance of a concert programme that features ensemble pieces, solos, dance and even opera.
This valuable work could not be undertaken without the support of external organisations such as the DSF. The Foundation is delighted to be involved, and urges others to lend their support to this very worthwhile cause.
